The programme has been designed in such a way so that the students get exposed to strongtheoretical and practical background on various domains of Microbiology.

The programme includes details of important microorganisms of agricultural, medical andindustrial importance, biomolecules, tools and techniques, enzymes, immunology, cell biology,molecular biology genetic engineering to make the study of microbiology for sustainabledevelopment of human society.

The practical courses have been designed to equip the students with the laboratory skills inmicrobiology. Students will be able to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze andinterpret scientific data.

The programme will provide students with the knowledge and skill base that would enable themto undertake further studies in microbiology and related areas or in multidisciplinary areas thatinvolve microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology and molecular biology and help develop arange of generic skills that are relevant in enhancing entrepreneurship skills among students.

The students will be exposed to a wide range of careers that combine microbiology,environment, industry and medical.

Knowledge of basic sciences: Students will acquire microbiology specific knowledge including basic microbiology such as Bacteriology, Virology, Biochemistry, Microbial Physiology, and Industrial Microbiology coupled with hands on skills and leadership skills for a successful career.

Problem analysis: Graduates will be able to analyse, solve and troubleshoot problems in implementation of microbiological protocols.

Design/development of solutions: Students will be able to design or generate solutions of common problems related topublic health and environment with the use of microbiology.

Modern tool usage: Students will gain knowledge of various biotechnological applications of microorganisms and will learn to use modern techniques and resources for understanding of natural sciences.

Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the science to improve the environmental health and aware about the knowledge and need of sustainable development.

Project management and lab culture: Acquired the skills in handling scientific instruments, planning and performing in laboratory experiments.

Future prospective: After the completion of this course students have the option to go for higher studies i.e. M. Sc and then do some research for the welfare of mankind or prepare for other competitive examination.

Life-long and interdisciplinary approach of learning:Realized how developments in any science subject helps in the development of other science subjects and vice-versa and how interdisciplinary approach helps in providing better solutions and new ideas for the sustainable developments.

Students will acquire and demonstrate proficiency in good laboratory practices in a microbiological laboratory and be able to explain the theoretical basis and practical skills of thetools/ technologies commonly used to study this field.

Students will gain fundamental knowledge about the various scopes on agricultural and environmental microbiology and their concepts.

The certificate course will enable students to apply for technical positions in government and private labs/ institutes.
